UVLPEE91 - Buff - Everything Is Stolen - Everything Is Ash
The third LP from space punks Buff, (if you include half an LP, the split with Cress!) and dead proud here at UVHQ to have been involved in putting all 3 out! Unfortunately (maybe?) this is the last with this line up, although I do believe they'll be carrying on with some new members, hopefully in a similar vein. Plenty here to enjoy, punk sensibilities with a touch of spacey synth work enhancing (not overpowering) the music, giving a kind of festival vibe to the raw punkiness underneath, personally I feel the mixture is just right (for those of you rolling your eyes and imagining something a lot worse!) Each release has given us a little bit more in terms of quality, just a shame they never got to play here in Anarcho Yarco (Gt. Yarmouth for the uninitiated, our own DIY venue Colossal Youth, run by Urinal Vinyl Records and Picket Line Promo, plus a rotating roster of volunteers and mates).
Anyway, 11 songs, 300 pressed on black vinyl, with insert/lyric sheet, first LP, Sites, Squats and Towerblocks nearly all gone now, not many of the split with Cress left either, so treat yourself to those as well while you still can. An interesting insight into how much vinyl prices have increased in such a short time as well, £8.50 to £10, and now £12, that's nearly a 50% increase in 8 years! Is that in line with inflation? I dunno, I could google it, but I can't be arsed.... All a con anyway I'm sure, why do we need inflation? There'll be a bewildering explanation somewhere for it, but if money is simply a tool to barter more effectively, then it's not needed. More a tool to skim more and more away from us poorer types up to the richer ones. Bastards. Anyway, I digress, buy the album before none of us have any money left!
