The Punk for Pam series is a collection of 10 very limited lathe cut 7" singles, each one by one of the bands that has been involved with the festival. The Punk for Pam festivals have been taking place each year in Edinburgh and Manchester, benefit gigs to raise money for Waverley Care. Waverley Care run the Milestone Hospice, and supplied Pam Blyth, (sister of "Jock" Blyth of GBH), and her family with extensive care and support after being diagnosed with HIV in the early 80s.
These singles are individually cut on a lathe, each one recorded in real time by hand, setting up the machine each time with a blank disc onto which the music is "cut" in the same way a master is cut to make the metal stampers that are normally used to press vinyl. The process is slow and laborious and so only small runs are usually available, there will be around 50 copies of each single made. As each one enters the preparation stage, they will be put up on the site for pre order, but be quick, they do go very fast indeed. A limited amount of subscriptions are available for the full set, (or for whatever remains to be cut from the full set).
